Macaroni and Peas

If you haven’t tried my recipe for macaroni n peas you should. That’s assuming you like peas and if you don’t like peas maybe this recipe will change your mind.

 

You’ll need:

  • 1 28 ounce can Whole Italian Plum Tomatoes crushed by hand.
  • 1/2-1 cup sliced onions, your choice
  • 4-6 garlic cloves sliced also your choice
  • 1-tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbs of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1- 2 cups depending on your taste, of frozen peas, thawed.
  • 1 cup sliced baby bella mushrooms
  • Your favorite pasta

 

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet 12″-13″ heat the olive oil then sauté the mushrooms, crushed pepper flakes, onions and garlic for 5 minutes
  2. Now add the hand crushed tomatoes and all the juice
  3. Bring this to a boil then lower the heat to a simmer and allow this simmer for 20 min
  4. Now add the peas and continue to simmer for 5 more minutes
  5. Cook your pasta 2 minutes short of the recommended time, strain and add the pasta to the sauce
  6. Finish the pasta in the sauce until it is done
  7. Serve with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some grated pecorino romano cheese
