Stove Top Baked Ziti
I know, doesn’t make sense. This is such a simple way to make a easy pasta dish. I love baked ziti in the oven but when I make this version I also really love it. The flavors are true to what they are and if you didn’t tell me this wasn’t made in the oven, I wouldn’t know. Cleanup is simple, one pot to boil the pasta and a skillet. Simple.
You’ll need:
- 1/2 lb of ziti
- 8-ounces of ricotta cheese
- 8-ounces of mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2-cup of grated pecorino Romano cheese.
- 3-cups of tomato sauce
Directions:
- Add the sauce to a 12″ skillet and heat till it begins to boil.
- Cook your ziti 2 minutes short of recommended time, strain and add to the sauce.
- Lower the heat to low and add the pasta to the sauce fold to fully coat the pasta.
- Add 1/2 of the ricotta, 1/2 the Romano, 1/2 the mozzarella and mix well being sure everything is fully mixed together.
- Top with remaining mozzarella, romano and ricotta and then cover with a lid. Do not remove the cover and while you continue to cook it for 2 minutes.
- Turn off and remove the skillet from the heat and let it sit for 5 more minutes, do not remove the lid.
- Serve directly from the skillet.
